Weighted Svend Press

The weighted Svend press is an accessory movement that combines isometric chest adduction with dynamic arm extension using a weight plate. It intensely targets the pectoralis major and anterior deltoids, fitting best as a burnout finisher at the end of a chest session.

Questions

Can the Svend press be done with dumbbells instead of a plate?

Yes, you can squeeze a single dumbbell vertically between your flat palms or press two small dumbbells together horizontally.

Does the Svend press build significant chest mass on its own?

It serves primarily as an accessory exercise for mind-muscle connection and peak contraction, making it most effective when paired with heavy compound presses.
