Questions

Is the high plank knee drop safe for the lower back?

It is generally safe when maintaining a neutral spine, but stop immediately and see a specialist if you feel lower back pain.

How does this exercise differ from standard mountain climbers?

Mountain climbers drive the knee forward toward the chest at a faster pace, while knee drops lower the knee vertically to the floor in a slow, controlled anti-extension motion.
