How to do it

  1. Attach the band to a high anchor, such as the top of a door, and take a handle in each hand.
  2. Kneel down facing the anchor with your arms extended overhead toward it and the band taut.
  3. Keep your torso upright, chest up, and core braced.
  4. Inhale, then as you exhale, pull the handles down toward your shoulders, driving your elbows down and back and squeezing your shoulder blades together.

Questions

Can the band kneeling lat pulldown replace regular pull-ups?

It targets the same primary muscle groups with a similar movement pattern, making it a viable alternative or stepping stone, though it typically involves lower peak resistance.

Is this exercise safe if you have lower back issues?

The kneeling stance significantly reduces axial spinal loading compared to standing variations, but you should stop immediately and consult a professional if pain occurs.
